Who we are

AlphaMakers is a company registered in Delaware, United States. We run user-interview studies for product companies: a company tells us who it needs to hear from and what it needs to learn, and our AI interviewer conducts the interviews.

That means two organisations touch what you say — us, and the company whose study you took part in. This notice covers both, and the section below on what we share is the important one.

What we collect

Before you agree to anything

• Business contact details — business name, business phone number, website, a publicly listed email address and, where it is published, the owner's name. We take these from public business listings and from the business's own website. We do not buy personal data sets and we do not enrich them with anything about you personally.

If you book an interview

• Booking details — the name, email address and phone number you enter, and the time you choose.
• Your agreement to be recorded, recorded as part of the booking and asked again at the start of the call.

If you take the interview

• An audio recording of the call, but only if you say yes when the interviewer asks at the start. If you say no, no recording is made.
• A written transcript of that recording, and our notes and analysis drawn from it.
• Call metadata — the time, the duration, and whether the call connected.

The interview is conducted by an AI

The interviewer is an automated system, not a person, and it identifies itself as one at the start of every call. Your speech is processed by AI model providers in order to run the conversation in real time and to produce the transcript afterwards. People on our team read the transcripts and listen to the recordings.

We do not use your recording or transcript to train publicly available AI models.

Why we use it

• To invite you — contacting a business at its published business contact details about research relevant to its trade.
• To run and pay for the interview — calling you at the time you chose and sending your gift card.
• To do the research — answering the questions the study was set up to answer, and reporting what we learned to the company that commissioned it. This is the whole purpose of the call, and it is what we told you in the invitation.

Recording rests on your consent, which you give at the start of the call and can withdraw. Everything else rests on our legitimate interest in conducting research with businesses, balanced against your interest in not being bothered — which is why one unsubscribe stops all of it.

What we share, and with whom

The company that commissioned your study receives the recording, the transcript and our analysis of it. That is the point of the interview, and we say so before you book. They may use it only for their own research, and they may not use it to sell to you or pass it on.

If you would rather take part without that — or want your recording deleted after the fact — tell the interviewer, or write to us.

What we never do

• We do not sell your personal information, and we have not in the past twelve months. We do not disclose it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
• We do not publish recordings or transcripts, and we do not share them with anyone beyond the company whose study you took part in and the service providers listed below.
• We do not add you to a marketing list, and we do not pass your details to anyone who wants to sell you something.
• We never ask for payment details, bank details, card numbers, passwords or access to your systems. If anyone asks for these in our name, it is not us.

This website

Separately from the interviews, we measure how this site is used — which pages are opened, which links and buttons are clicked, and roughly where in the world the visit came from — so we can tell whether these pages actually answer the questions people arrive with. This uses PostHog, and it sets a cookie and a local-storage entry in your browser to recognise a repeat visit.

We do not record your screen or your session on this site, we do not use it for advertising, and none of it is joined up with what you say in an interview. Browsers that send a "do not track" or global privacy control signal are respected, and blocking the cookie does not stop any page here from working.

Who else processes it

We use a small number of service providers, who may only act on our instructions:

• Email delivery (Resend).
• Interview scheduling (Cal.com).
• Cloud hosting, storage and databases (Google Cloud).
• The AI model providers that run the interviewer and produce transcripts.
• The gift card issuer that fulfils your thank-you.
• Website analytics (PostHog) — this site only, never the interviews.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Recordings and transcripts — up to 12 months after the interview, then deleted. Deleted sooner on request.
• Notes and analysis — we keep the research findings, with names, business names and contact details removed.
• Contact details — until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only the minimum needed to make sure we do not contact you again.

Your choices

• Refuse the recording. Say no when the interviewer asks and nothing is recorded.
• Stop the interview at any point, without a reason.
• Have your recording and transcript deleted. Ask us and we will delete them.
• Ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.
• Stop hearing from us. The unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails is immediate and permanent.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you rights to know, to delete, to correct and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share, and exercising any of these rights will never mean you are treated differently or paid less. Use the contact form and tell us what you want; we will not ask you to create an account to do it.

Children

This research is with business owners and operators. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects people who have already been interviewed, we will tell them directly.
